Our re-skin users. 5 minutes with Jaimee Lupton founder of Monday Haircare

Jaimee Lupton is the entrepreneur, beauty enthusiast and brains behind MONDAY Haircare - the cult supermarket brand bringing luxury haircare to the masses.

What sets your soul on fire?

It’s been such a privilege to work with some of the most talented creatives throughout Australasia (and beyond) during these formative years of our business. I can’t get over how incredible the photographers, stylists, graphic designers, writers, photographers, and fearless men and women who make up my team both in New Zealand and Australia are. They not only share my vision, but they’re determined to see it succeed. I love bouncing an idea around with them and then watching them pull something together that is even better than my original idea.

How do you typically start the day?

I love to multi-task, so after I’ve cleared any emails that came in from our global team overnight, I make a green smoothie and drink it in the car while driving to the office and listening to our MONDAY On The Mic Podcast.

Talk us through you’re A.M and P.M beauty routine.

AM: I apply Aspect Dr Multi B Plus Serum every morning and if my skin is a little dry I’ll switch it out for re.form serum by re.skin. I also add Dose&Co collagen creamer (the vanilla is my favourite) to my smoothie or coffee every morning to keep my hair, skin and nails strong.

PM: A few nights a week I use Aspect Dr Exfol A Plus Serum, which is a retinol, and I swear by this for fading scars, preventing breakouts and just generally keeping my skin looking good. I always double cleanse at night with the Aspect Dr Deep Clean Facial Cleanser.

What does a day on your plate look like?

Breakfast: A green smoothie with a huge scoop of my favourite collagen powder Dose & Co, Morning snack: fruit! I’m obsessed with it – we always have a weekly supply of fresh fruit in the office. Lunch: Something healthy and loaded with vegetables like a salmon poke bowl. Dinner: This changes all the time but at the moment I love miso-roasted eggplant with sesame seeds and spring onions, served with brown rice, broccolini and salmon. YUM.

Do you have any daily self-care rituals that help you feel your best?

Adding Dose&Co collagen creamer to my smoothie every morning is a non-negotiable. Collagen is a structural protein that acts as a building block for your skin, bones, teeth, joints and tissue. Think of it as the glue that, quite literally, holds your body together. I’ve got friends using it for everything from eczema to psoriasis, and it’s just an added bonus that it tastes divine.

Where would we find you on a Sunday afternoon?

Playing with my French bulldog Frankie, catching up with girlfriends, and trying to find carve out some downtime before the next crazy week begins.

What keeps you motivated?

I love the pace of growth and innovation in the beauty industry; it’s constantly reimagining the way we think about skincare, makeup and body care, and I’m so proud to have my business play a small part in it. I’m a Gemini, so I’m never content when things stay stagnant and I hate to sit still – working in the beauty industry is the best way for me to channel that energy into something productive!

If today had an extra hour how would you use it?

I’d book in with Amelia at Room Nine in Auckland for an Osmosis Organic Medi facial. I fall asleep every single time!!

What’s your favourite destination you’ve travelled to?

New York, I am obsessed with the buzz around the city.

What corner of the world are you yet to explore but yearning to?

Mexico, we had a trip planned pre-Covid that we didn’t take it’s on the top of my list and has been for some time.

Your proudest achievement to date is…

MONDAY – I’m so proud of what we have achieved at to date and we have some pretty big plans in the pipeline.

What does ‘beauty’ mean to you?

I’m a huge believer that every person, no matter their story, should be entitled to look and feel good.
